We are looking to hire a full staff for our new Chicago knife store!!
Established in San Francisco in 2011, Town Cutler is a trusted provider of culinary goods and services for San Francisco's rich culinary world. We provide high-end cutlery and expert sharpening services to professional chefs, discerning culinary enthusiasts, and home cooks. And now it's time to staff our second retail and sharpening location in the wonderful city of Chicago.
Our primary location in The West Loop is a mix of retail and workshop for all things knives. We carry an excellent selection of American and Japanese cutlery, as well as, our own line of handmade knives, which we produce in our Oakland location.
We run a multifaceted business, at the core of which has been our expert sharpening service. We sharpen 300-400 knives a week, so this position requires a great deal of hard work and focus. We will teach you our sharpening process, but you must be good with your hands, comfortable around knives, able to take direction, and understand the importance of working safely and efficiently. The person we are looking for needs to have dedication, be a quick learner, problem solver, and be good with people. One of the unique aspects of this position is that you must be equally comfortable with sharpening, as you are with sales, customer service, and other tasks. We have a passion for enduring handmade goods and strive to build long-term relationships with our customers based on trust and reliability.
We are a small and tight crew, who are focused on the larger goal and work as a team. We are fun, hard working, and love what we do.
Experience in or knowledge of the current food industry is a plus.
The positions are 40 hours a week. And will range from Shopkeep to Manager, but all will be trained in knife sharpening.
