Takeda Hamono

Takeda Hamono produces hand-forged knives in Niimi, Okayama, Japan. Founded in 1920, 3rd generation master blacksmith, Shosui Takeda, continues the work today with a small staff of master smiths. Takeda blades are forged from Aogami Super Steel (AS), a high-quality carbon steel known for its ability to hold an extraordinary edge. These knives are easy to sharpen and feature an octagonal handle, making them good for right- or left- handed use.
The current line of Takeda culinary blades consists of an Aogami Super Steel core with stainless cladding to protect against oxidizing and discoloration. The hand-forged nature of the knives means that the length and profiles of each blade will vary slightly.
